Throw Captain America’s shield into the socket, and you’ll be ready to get inside the station. Smash the glowing shelves and construct the hopping bricks to create a Cap Shield Socket. Use Thor to shoot lightning at the socket until the guard station door is open on the first floor. The Electrical Charge Socket is now open. On the second guard station roof, pull the green power handles. Go right and ride the exterior elevator in the right corner up with She-Hulk. That’s one guard station down – time to head to the second station. When the power is back on, enter the guard station through the door next to the ladder, and throw Cap’s shield at the Cap Shield Socket mounted on the wall. Unlock both guard stations and activate the Cap Shield Slots to get the hopping bricks you need to open the main door. For now, it seems that a flood of memories, a feeling of transcendence, and eventual bliss are one last gift the world gives us before we leave it for good.Embark on an emotional award-winning adventure where you control the story-and affect its outcomes-with your real-life blinks. Research has not concluded why the brain does this. Countless studies have examined the religious significance of near-death experiences, drawing on survivors’ accounts of transcendental and blissful states at the moment before they die. In a 2019 study, researchers compared stories of near-death experiences with stories of drug experiences, finding that ketamine, LSD, and the hallucinogenic DMT yielded strong similarities. Previous research into this phenomenon was largely based on anecdotal evidence. Hieronymus Bosch, “Ascent of the Blessed” (1500–1504) (via Wikimedia Commons) Hieronymus Bosch’s painting “Ascent of the Blessed” (1500–1504) depicts bright, white light at the end of a tunnel, another experience reported in near-death experiences. In The Republic, Plato tells the story of a warrior who returns from death and recounts leaving his body. People have been describing this phenomenon for millennia. In the 1998 action film Armageddon, Bruce Willis’s character sees memories of his daughter and wife a moment before dying in outer space. In the 2001 film Vanilla Sky, the character played by Tom Cruise leaps from a building and as he’s falling, he sees his childhood, his parents, a dog, and the women he’s loved throughout the years his life. The trope is so solidified it’s joked about in cartoons, like Family Guy, and used in movies like Babe: Pig in the City (Babe flees from a dog about to kill him). These accounts cross cultures and religions. They have also reported a hallucinatory and meditative state and a sense of transcendence and bliss. ![]() Research into these experiences has reported intense memory recall and a panoramic review of one’s life. It comes back to us from people who have experienced near-death experiences, defined as when the brain has transitioned into preparing for death. This is the first time this has been proven in a human, although the concept looms large in our collective imagination. Similar brain oscillations occur during meditation and dreaming. It’s thought that these oscillatory patterns, and an increase in gamma waves, suggest memory recall (the gamma band decreases external interference, allowing for deep inward concentration like recalling memories). The EEG brain scan found an oscillatory brain wave pattern in which activity in the brain’s alpha, beta, and theta bands relatively decreased and activity in the gamma band relatively increased. “No healthy human is gonna go and have an EEG before they die, and in no sick patient are we going to know when they’re gonna die to record these signals.” “This is why it’s so rare, because you can’t plan this,” Ajmal Zemmar, one of the co-authors of the study, told Insider. When he unexpectedly died, the EEG machine kept running, providing the scientists a first-of-its-kind glimpse into the brain activity of a dying human. The scientists were originally conducting electroencephalography (EEG) scans on the patient to detect and treat seizures. The scan was conducted by an international team of 13 neuroscientists led by Raul Vicente of the University of Tartu in Estonia. The patient, whose name was kept private, suffered a heart attack, and due to his do-not-resuscitate status, the scientists were able to track his brain waves throughout the final moments of his life. They favor water temperatures above 68 F (20 C). These rays predominantly live in temperate, subtropical, and tropical waters all through the world. As an outcome, the enormous manta was renamed Mobula birostris to reflect the brand new classification. Until 2017, the species was labeled within the genus Manta, together with the smaller reef manta ray (Mobula alfredi).ĭNA testing revealed that each species are more intently associated with rays of the genus Mobula than beforehand thought. It is circumglobal and is often present in tropical and subtropical waters, however may also be present in temperate waters. The Giant oceanic manta ray, large manta ray, or oceanic manta ray, is a species of ray within the family Mobulidae, and the most important sort of ray in the world. Giant manta rays are slow-growing, migratory animals with small, extremely fragmented populations which are sparsely distributed the world over. They are filter feeders and eat massive portions of zooplankton. This fun adventure begins with watching a beautiful Kona Sunset and then visiting the world-famous Manta Ray Village to see giant manta rays and other reef fish. The Giant Oceanic Manta Ray, the scientific name Mobula birostris is the world’s largest ray with a wingspan of as much as 29 feet. While you shouldn’t touch manta rays, you can still see them up close on our Manta Ray Night Snorkel Tours. SEE MANTA RAYS RESPECTFULLY WITH KONA STYLE SNORKEL & SAIL Not only is it immoral and harmful to touch manta rays, but it’s also illegal in Hawaii to knowingly capture them. CAPTURING MANTA RAYS IS ILLEGAL IN HAWAII If you touch a manta ray it could cause them to flee.Īnd believe us, you don’t want to be the person who scares all the manta rays away on a snorkeling tour. Like most animals, manta rays don’t have a lot of humans touching them generally. Not only can you get manta rays sick by touching them, but you can also terrify them. Over time we would likely see the manta ray population diminish. If every snorkeler decided to touch the manta rays, it could cause widespread sickness among the manta rays. This can make the manta ray susceptible to infections and bacteria.įurthermore, actions also compound amongst visitors. When a human touches a manta ray, the oils on their hands can counteract the mucus, making this barrier for their immune system less protective.Īdditionally, trying to hold on to a manta ray might actually remove this slimy mucus. That mucus repels bacteria from soaking into the manta ray’s skin. ![]() In fact, the mucous coating protects them. The mucus coat on a manta ray serves a very important purpose that’s key for their survival. Essentially, manta rays are slimy, like most sea creatures. Manta rays have very smooth skin and a mucus coat across their skin. If you’re curious what a manta ray feels like, we’re happy to tell you. But because they allow you to get close to them does not mean you should touch them. They may approach you and often allow you to get reasonably close to them (which is why snorkeling with manta rays is such a breathtaking experience). Now, manta rays are not like most animals. With that simple fact alone you shouldn’t touch a wild animal. A lot of things in nature can and will hurt you. However, any biologist will tell you that the ocean is not your petting zoo nor is most of nature. We completely understand… Petting zoos are awesome. Keep reading below to learn why you should never touch a manta ray while snorkeling. While a manta ray is not likely to attack you, you should not touch a manta ray. Moreover, touching a manta ray while snorkeling could have serious consequences. Still, manta rays are wild animals and wild animals deserve respect. Some individuals want to hold a manta ray or even just touch it to see what it feels like. Travelers want to take pictures of them smiling next to a manta ray to show their friends back home. Since it’s not an everyday experience to see a manta ray, many people are very curious and want to get close to the manta rays. If you want to see a manta ray up close, you generally have to travel somewhere tropical and go snorkeling. To create an exhibit that could house a manta ray is often too costly for most zoos. This is because manta rays can have a wingspan of 18 feet wide. And while you may see dolphins and turtles at your local zoop, likely, your zoo doesn’t have manta rays. Hawaii is home to a multitude of tropical fish (i’a), dolphins (nā ʻāpāpā), sea turtles (honu), and of course, manta rays (hahalua). One of the most exciting parts of visiting Hawaii is seeing all the wildlife. A device can also deliver multiple messages (up to 32) to the memory address, delivering different payloads based on the event.īecause communication is based across a memory value, and because the content is delivered with the interrupt, the need for IRQ lines is removed (making the total system limit of MSIs equal to the number of interrupt vectors, not IRQ lines), as is the need for a driver ISR to query the device for data related to the interrupt, decreasing latency. This action causes an interrupt, and Windows then calls the ISR with the message content (value) and the address where the message was delivered. In the MSI model, a device delivers a message to its driver by writing to a specific memory address. Although it remains an optional component of the standard that is seldom found in client machines, an increasing number of servers and workstations implement MSI support, which is fully supported by the all recent versions of Windows. In many cases, the hardware has the final decision as to which processor will be interrupted out of the possible set that the Plug and Play manager selected for this interrupt, and there is little device drivers can do.Ī solution to all these problems is a new interrupt mechanism first introduced in the PCI 2.2 standard called message-signaled interrupts (MSI). Finally, line-based interrupts provide poor scalability in multiprocessor environments. (Furthermore, the interrupt controller must typically receive an EOI signal as well.) If either of these does not happen due to a bug, the system can end up in an interrupt state forever, further interrupts could be masked away, or both. Other problems with generating interrupts through an IRQ line is that incorrect management of the IRQ signal can lead to interrupt storms or other kinds of deadlocks on the machine, because the signal is driven “high” or “low” until the ISR acknowledges it. ![]() Additionally, PCI devices are each connected to only one IRQ line anyway, so the media card reader cannot use more than one IRQ in the first place. ![]() However, consuming four IRQ lines for a single device quickly leads to IRQ line exhaustion. For example, in the previous example of the 7-in-1 media card reader, a much better solution is for each device to have its own interrupt and for one driver to manage the different interrupts knowing which device they came from. They are typically undesirable and a side effect of the limited number of physical interrupt lines on a computer. ![]() Shared interrupts are often the cause of high interrupt latency and can also cause stability issues. or another attempt to improve latenciesįrom "Windows Internals" by Mark Russinovich, David A. South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands (GBP £) For example on my computer I didn't notice ANY difference (used built-in FPS meter (F2) and it was 60 fps all the time with all layers stuffed full).īut if you want I could try to do Parallax mapping optimization plugin parameter, which will disable normal tiling totally, this would make it even faster than "foreground.js". But this doesn't mean my plugin is 5 times slower and if you use ALL of it's layers it might be ~1.1 to 3 times heavier than foreground.js (depending on target machine). I took a look at this "foreground.js" -plugin and it seems it is more efficient (ATM) because it also uses TilingSprite -class (the normal way to do parallax mapping in RMMV), but only 1 times (my plugin has total of 5 different layers > 2 of them for run-time sprites). Performance difference is quite dependent of target machine. Generally parallax mapping will consume more memory and bandwidth on 1st load, but it has less need of computing. ![]() (Writing this late at night but I hope I formulated myself okay enough)Ĭlick to expand.Hi and yes message was formulated okay enough! So I might as well ask some follow-up questions that I've been pondering. On that note, since you made this plugin you obviously have some insight into how MV draws graphics and what load this might put on the CPU/GPU/RAM. Three layers is more than enough for me who usually only use two. I'm a fan of your previous plugins so I'll be sure to give this new one a spin as well. (Writing this late at night but I hope I formulated myself okay you, for your quick response. But the larger maps can be up to ~90x90 (4320x4320 pixels per image layer). My smallest maps are around ~40x40 (1920x1920 pixels per image layer), which is probably fine. Water or animated tiles is done by placing one or several events with large(!) graphics and give them a custom move route for the animation sequence. I'm also using previously mentioned Region Restrictions plugin by Yanfly, but I think I'd have to use that with your plugin as well so I don't think it's relevant to the performance.Īnd like I said, I usually only use two layers (background, foreground) and no tiles whatsoever. Would you say your plugins is more efficient compared to my current solution (normal parallax image with an "!" before the filename for the background and Kadokawa's "Foregroun.js" plugin for an overlay layer)? If there is no big difference in performance your plugin does provide more layers and possibilities which is a good thing. ![]() Is this correct, incorrect or does it maybe depend on the size of the image and plugin used?Īlso, regarding performance. While I'm not much of a programmer myself and therefore don't understand exactly what they're talking about, it almost sounds like parallax mapping might put less strain on your computer in this old thread: Up until now however, I've always been told the opposite which makes me curious. I like parallax mapping, as my alias might suggest, but I also like to make large maps, and till this day I'm still unsure of how viable parallax mapping is compared to MV's built in tile-mapping (the mapping you do in the editor) when it comes to performance.
